Raspberry Pi 2, possible surprise release for 02/02/2015

There is some talk going around that the Raspberry Pi 2 will be released on Monday February 2, 2015. Unfortunately, at the time of writing the only source is theregister.co.uk, so I would recommend to contain your excitement until the official announcement from the Raspberry Pi foundation (and remain skeptic, since a previous article from July 2014 at extremetech.com put the release date towards 2017).

The given specifications show their new Broadcom BCM2836 chip to have a 900MHz quadcore processor with 1GB of RAM at a price of $35. It is said to have at least 6 times the performance of the B+ and will have a very similar form factor as the Raspberry Pi.

The Raspberry Pi foundation website can be found at http://www.raspberrypi.org/.

The Register article can be found here.

EDIT: The Raspberry Pi was actually released.
