General Information

The Beetle by DFRobot is a really tiny (20mmx22mm) microcontroller which comes with an Atmel AtMega32u4 microprocessor, 10 expansion pins and a micro USB connector for power and programming. The Beetle can be programmed from the Arduino IDE (by selecting the "Arduino Leonardo" board). The board supports I2C, UART, and has 4 PWM channels.

The creators envision the application area to be wearable computing and any other kind of mobile applications. The pin holes and board shape were created specifically so that you can easily loop conducting thread or wire. The board comes preloaded with a bootloader and is ready to use out of the box. The bootloader does take up 4KB of the available 32KB memory though.
